Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
