Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
