Jurgen Klopp says a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-season tenure featuring a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the notion that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage any other side on English soil. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, that means I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, however, dining out with the players enjoying conversation, that’s nice. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact at the club. The forward lost his life in a vehicle collision together with his sibling recently.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A profound tragedy for all the boys too. No one within the club would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Overwhelming.”
