Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
